Selenites

The Greek NewSpace Society (GrNSS) is deeply committed to inspiring the next generation of space explorers and innovators. Our Selenites program, a key initiative within the “Nurture NewSpace” category, is specifically designed to captivate primary and secondary school students with the wonders of space exploration.

Proudly based on the esteemed Lunar Caves Analog Test Sites (LCATS), a three-year pre-engineering Program, the Selenites program was established through a valuable partnership with the WEX Foundatiton. This collaboration allows us to bring a robust and engaging educational framework to young learners in Greece.

The name “Selenites” itself holds a special meaning, rooted in Greek heritage. In Greek, “Σεληνίτες” (Selenites) translates to “inhabitants of the Moon.” This evocative name perfectly embodies the program’s focus on lunar exploration and our aspirations for future generations to participate in humanity’s journey to and beyond Earth.

Through the Selenites program, we are committed to providing enriching and informative experiences for younger students, igniting their passion for the cosmos and the groundbreaking advancements in the NewSpace sector. We firmly believe that fostering an early interest in space is crucial for the future of the NewSpace Economy. Our program aims to:

  • Spark Curiosity: Introduce young learners to the thrilling possibilities of space travel, lunar missions, and robotic exploration.
  • Educate and Inform: Provide age-appropriate educational content covering fundamental concepts of space science, cutting-edge space technology, and the principles of engineering.
  • Inspire Future Leaders: Encourage students to envision themselves as future scientists, engineers, astronauts, and entrepreneurs within the space industry.

Keep an eye out for more details about upcoming Selenites program activities and discover how young students can embark on this exciting journey of discovery with us!
